Why this exists

What St. Petersburg's council, committees, and commissions decide, about your street, your water bill, your neighborhood, is all public record. But it's scattered across agenda PDFs, video archives, and meeting minutes that take hours to piece together. Most people find out about a change only when it's too late to weigh in.

Burg's Eye View closes that gap: the City's own public record, made readily accessible and easily digestible.

The full website, now in private testing, will carry tools that keep city decisions tracked and easy to understand: every council meeting broken down in plain language with each member's vote on the record, development cases mapped citywide, upcoming city meetings gathered on one calendar with their agendas digested, a searchable database of city spending, and personal alerts for what's happening around your own address. Who's behind it

Burg's Eye View is an independent, resident-run project. It is not affiliated with, run by, or endorsed by the City of St. Petersburg. It's a volunteer effort to make the data and records from our City readable and easier to reference when you need information.

It's built and edited by Brad Falbo, a St. Petersburg resident. The project started from a simple frustration: decisions that reshape a community shouldn't be buried in bureaucracy and require hours of research to digest.

Where the information comes from

Everything that will be published here is built from the City's own records: agenda packets, minutes, and meeting results; meeting video the City archives; documents obtained through public records requests under Chapter 119, Florida Statutes; and court records where a dispute has reached the courthouse.

Source data is available for public view; if not readily on the website, please reach out and request a copy.

How AI is used here

Software, including AI, does the heavy lifting: parsing thousands of pages of data, sorting transactions, drafting first passes, and flagging what deserves a closer look. That efficiency is how a volunteer project reports in a timely manner.

Human verifications occur at every possible step in the process of the investigations. With the coming website changes, AI usage will be provided for each investigation and reporting so readers can understand AI's usage across the database.
